Well done to all qualifiers for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2014 in Sligo!
On behalf of Westmeath County Board of Comhaltas I would like to thank everyone who made this Leinster Fleadh such a success. Comhairle Laighean, you have yet again run a great Fleadh, and under such poignant circumstances. You would have made Tom so proud. Thank you for your support and encouragement, it was a pleasure to work with you all. To every single volunteer who, for absolutely no financial gain whatsoever, helped out in any way great or small, front of house or behind the scenes, your hard work did not go unnoticed. To the management and staff of our fantastic competition venues, and all the great venues in Moate which hosted the many events throughout the week, there was so much positive feedback from so many people. To the people of Moate and local business owners, community groups, etc. for being so supportive and welcoming in so many ways. Your town was pristine for the many visitors, and the respect you showed to our traditional music was noted by many. The goodwill towards the Fleadh from our first meeting right through to the last tune last night was enormous and will live long in the memory, and is what we think made this year’s Fleadh extra special. And lastly to our comhaltas members in Westmeath, thank you thank you thank you! If you got involved (or got back involved) with your local branch on account of the Fleadh stick with them and stay involved, it’s not a bad organisation! and this week proves what teamwork, co-operation and ‘many hands’ can do.
